The Banks of Opposite Meadow

3 minutes 24 seconds| In coming up with the title, George Butterworth’s On The Banks of Green Willow was on my mind, although my meadow is moderately foreboding. One might compare it to Arkady and Boris Strugatsky’s science fiction novel, Roadside Picnic, where trespassers penetrate an exclusion zone set up around places of otherworldly visitation. These never-met visitors landed and left (what is judged to be in hindsight) litter. Local residents cart off these artifacts unaware of their potential lethality.
