I, like English composer Frederick Delius, was a temporary resident of the Southern States. Although I was native born, I somehow became an accidental exile. The Old South nevertheless swelters in my dreams of childhood summer, and places the action of this music on the cooling banks of The Mississippi, first in a meandering river raft, and then in view of the bluffs of my beloved hometown, Memphis, Tennessee.
