Analog Horror: I talk about the similarity of some of my work in animation to analog horror on my page dedicated to my 2018 film, Gravity Pending, which is discussed among my sketchbook pages. The first murmurs of this aesthetic emerged around 2008, which is the same time I started making vintage-style animation. I only discovered analog horror in March 2023. Dung Beetle is squarely in this analog horror vein, but also Nocebo and Elephant Allergy. These latter two SWFs were later teased apart and made into animated gifs. They can be found among the animated gifs in this portal.
My video experiments also showcased absurdist humor, which was current in my Profiles in Confusion comic strips at this time.
A menacing soundtrack is nine-tenths of horror, or so it seems.
