Autism and The Arts, Page One

My YouTube Channel: The best way to raise the profile of my website, as well as my profile as an artist, is to start a YouTube channel featuring not only my creative efforts but also my personality, which may include my role as an educator.

The viewer should visit my Autism and The Arts channel for a complete listing of my videos as they become available, since this will not require indirect linkage and whatever glitches may result.

A Surrealist’ View of A. I. Art: This first video includes brief remarks about A.I. generated art versus the intangibles of actual artmaking. This film also serves as an introduction for my channel.

Slow upload speeds presently limit how big I can go as a practical matter in terms of file size for these films. This will force me to make shorter videos than I planned, but more videos would probably be a better strategy at this early stage of development.

Blueprint for A Surrealist Painting: I started creating material for my YouTube channel in the middle of making this painting, so these first videos will drop in occasionally to judge my progress with this picture. I plan two films of time-lapse photography to complete the painting, and possibly a third.

This present video is me thinking out loud about my thought process as a surrealist. I also talk a little about artistic influences. I briefly describe my eye condition, Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy, and how I am dealing with it as an artist.

Stimming with Steak Fries: This is the first of what will be a series of videos that showcase my music and artwork together. In this episode, we look at a graphite and white charcoal drawing on toned paper, a small oil painting (shown in detail), and a piece of 9/11 Blender Kitty cover art made for The New York Press Magazine from 2001. My first comic created for the Blurred Vision comics anthology is also seen.

I also explain what autistic “stimming” is.

Time lapse doodle with color pencils: This is my first YouTube Short, which is a time-lapsed drawing (doodle) made with Prismacolor pencils. It measures 3 x 3 inches and took an hour to complete. This drawing resides on a page in my current sketchpad, which is a Strathmore 400 series tablet (cream color paper).

I call this a Franken Doodle. These short films will appear in a vertical format.

Time lapse drawings: This was going to be a “theme and variations” set of time lapse drawings done as YouTube Shorts, but my experimentations ended up ruining the board so I cut these two drawings and pasted them into a sketchbook. The media used in this video included alcohol marker, color pencil, drawing pen, and graphic pencil.
