Autism and The Arts, Page Eleven

My Best Pitch: This is a brief pitch for my new video podcast, which is based on my online novel Icarus Transfigured. This includes a summary of themes and an excerpt.

Autism’s Love of Engineers: It is difficult to separate science from art when one is autistic. And perhaps the two things reflect one another at a fundamental level. Here is an exploration of essential traits that most engineers share, and why this collection of traits may not be accidental.

Icarus Transfigured | Chapter 3 | Stonesthrow: Despite a temporary lack of electricity, Aiden excitedly moves into his new home in his new town. Candles aid him while he hauls his few belongings up two flights of stairs, but something moves among the shadows that he did not bring with him.

Each chapter going forward will begin with an introduction. These entries flesh out themes in the book. Chapter Three begins with an entry from Aiden's journal, which describes his fear of the dark and empty spaces.

A Book of Strange Doodles: A sketchbook of thirty color pencil drawings are presented, created between 2014 and 2020 on especially slow teach days when I had an idle minute to sketch.

Icarus Transfigured | Chapter 4 | The Forerunner, Part One: Aiden is excited to explore his new town, but two strangers immediately intrude on his good mood. One is a transient who dresses and speaks like a pirate, and the other is a man who pretends to be a yard gnome posing in people’s yards. Halloween is days away, but some citizens are getting in on the action early.
